The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four has conducted a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study to consider improvements to SR 5/US 1 from south of 53rd Street (MP 9.762) to north of CR 510 (MP 14.457) in Indian River County. This PD&E Study evaluated many alternatives, including roadway capacity improvements, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and transit needs.

Location and Design Concept Acceptance (LDCA) for this project was granted by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on October 19, 2015.

What's Next?
Final Design will begin in the Fall of 2016 and Mr. Anson Sonnett will continue to be the FDOT project manager. There will be continued public outreach during the design phase.

As of the last update to this website (November 23, 2015), right-of-way and construction are not funded.
